As a life-long journaler, this blog is an extension of my personal paper-bound journal. There are still some things I’m not quite ready or willing to share with the entire world; there are also some things I think should always be kept private despite the 21st century social-networking-share-everything-you-ate-drank-saw-did-today mentality. So, for those private things, I have my trusty leather-bound journal.
This, however, is not that space, so in this blog I will attempt to write about those things in the world that strike me – funny, sad, thought-provoking, good, evil, mundane, exciting – who knows?
The over-arching theme, though, is that I am an optimist, a cautious one, but an optimist, nonetheless, and being so has served me well. Being an optimist with a realistic bent on life has allowed me to be resilient, to bounce back from the events and people in life that mow one down. One of my greatest qualities, I think, is that I’m tenacious. If something is truly worthwhile to me, I will not give up until I’ve done what I set out to do.
I work in the information technology field, as I have for most of the past 27 years, but since I have a creative streak, I like to spend my personal time pursuing creative endeavors – painting, needlework, ceramics, crocheting, and writing. I write poetry, and I used to write short stories. Writing this blog has reawakened in me that love of pouring out what’s in my head, whether or not anyone else will read it. However, I hope you will. Read it, that is.
It’s nice to have you along for the ride!
